2015-2016 ADDitions/School Volunteer Information

We hope that you can take the time to volunteer at school in some way this year. You can give whatever time you have available. There are many volunteer opportunities at our school: helping in classrooms, mentoring a student, chaperoning a field trip, helping during celebrations/special projects, field day, PTA events such as the carnival, book fair, etc. The list goes on and on! We have volunteer opportunities for everyone. We even have jobs you can do from home if you are not able to come during the school day. Any volunteer time that you have to offer is appreciated!

 

To volunteer this school year in any capacity first register online:

1. Go to volunteer.ocps.net and choose ADDitions School Volunteers icon to get to the NEW OCPS volunteer management system.

2. Click the appropriate category at the bottom of the page – previously registered volunteer (before June 2015) or new volunteer to get started. 

3. You will need create a user name (your email address) and password.

4. Follow the steps through the application and be sure to click submit.

 

*Your application must be approved before you can begin volunteering in any capacity.

*ADDitions application must be updated each school year.

*Please review the OCPS volunteer guidelines, OCPS code of ethics, Bullying and Harassment policy, and OCPS child abuse policy located with-in the online volunteer application.

Volunteer Sign In/Out:

All volunteers are required to sign in and out each time they are on campus using the computer in the office. Volunteers will need to sign in using their user name and password they created during the registration process. Select the volunteer activity you registered for online. Sign out when leaving. If the computer is not working, please ask the office staff for assistance. Volunteers must have a badge on at all times. Please bring government issued picture ID with you when you come to school to volunteer.

 

Please remember per OCPS guidelines volunteers should set a good example for students by their manner, appearance, and behavior, and should be well-groomed and appropriately dressed for the school environment.

 

To Chaperone a Field Trip: If you would like to chaperone a field trip this year register online (see above). Once you are notified by your child’s teacher there is an upcoming field trip, go back to the same site listed above and click the “Chaperone Application” button in the middle of the page. Print a downloadable chaperone form. Fill it out completely and send it to your child’s teacher by the due date listed on the field trip permission slip. We also have these forms available in the office.

We need a separate chaperone form for each child and for each field trip.

Don’t wait! The process takes 4-6 weeks and must be completed in time for final field trip approval. If this form is not processed in time you will not be able to attend the field trip.

*Please note: Some field trips do not require chaperones and some field trip locations limit the number of chaperones. All volunteers that apply/are approved may not be able to attend.

*Field Trip Payment: Due to the cost associated with non sufficient fund (NSF) checks, we are requesting that field trips be paid for using cash, money order, or cashier’s check.

5th Grade Parents: Fill out your ADDitions form and Chaperone form for the overnight camp out trip as soon as possible. Fill out these forms even if you’re not sure that you can attend.
